Agreed ;) I don't mind being bugged by recruiters, of course saying this
during the "DOWN TIMES" but lol about 2 years ago I was ready to shoot
any recruiter who called. I guess it just goes with the times we're in
:)

But I would say some companies prefer to remain nameless until you get
your first call back. Place I used to work for (hell) we had a lot of
large aviation companies who would use us and THEY would turn their
profiles OFF hence the employees never saw their name until after they
were interviewed.

Its just a way to kinda shield them from an overflow of resumes and not
letting their current employees know they are looking for new employees.

*shrugs* But to each his own. Though yea check the company out hell if
could be some place like my old job and the only way you could find out
they were a scummy place was just following your gut!!

Lol the man had the nerve to accuse me of having no morals, but I once
heard the person is worried about what he himself is ashamed of

You people are freaking out over nothing. Pete Ruckelshaus has already
explained himself. He
is the hiring manager. The HR people are conducting a search, but he
doesn't want them
to overlook any qualified applicants that he may be able to find using
resources (cf jobs
mailing list) that the HR dept. might not know about. Initially he left
out
the company
information, but after one person replied to the list complaining, he
replied with the
companies info to settle the list.

It's really not a big deal. If you are looking for a job, send your
resume.
If you're not
looking for a job, don't send your resume. Even if your resume falls
into
the hands of a
recruiter (like me), who cares. It only betters your chances.

Thank you,
Beau J. Gould

Doug,

Thanks for speaking up. I agree with you too. I am looking for a job,
I
appear to be well qualified (based on their description), and it is in
my
commuting distance, but I am not going to respond because of their
presentation. Even if it is because they don't want to get "slammed"
(don't
the applicants get slammed too?) there are ways to limit it some (I'm
using
hotmail, why can't you?). For all we know, this posting could be bogus
and
a recruiter himself. And if not, I wouldn't want to work for company
that
goes that route anyway.

Thanks again,
Susan

I agree with you, though I know that some companies wish to remain
anonymous early in the process (obviously, they wouldn't follow through
and interview you without letting you know who they are!) for a number
of reasons, including protecting themselves from getting slammed by
recruiters. Then again, I would hope that a company wishing to remain
anonymous would accept *anonymous* resumes :-)

Pete;
I mean no offense, but what is the reason that the company wishes to
remain
anonymous? Surely, if you wish to receive applications from qualified
individuals, they should have the right to know with whom they are going
to
be associated with. I can understand the anonyminity if the company does
not
wish current employees to know that they are looking for new blood, but
that
is about the only reason I can think of.

I am not currently looking, but I do have contacts that are interested
in
being advised of new openings. I could not recommend them to take the
trouble of applying, if there is not an employer there to check out in
advance.

Remember, there are many CF developers who have had the carpet pulled
out
from under them of late, and they realize that it is important to
consider
the prospective employer just as importantly as the employer will be
considering the candidate.

I'm posting this using my personal account so as to retain the anonymity
of
my employer; I'm also doing this search here as the hiring manager just
to
make sure HR doesn't miss any of the most qualified people when they
post
this opening.

We are an established medium-sized company (about 1,000 people
worldwide)
located in Exton, PA and are looking for a full-time employee with very
strong Cold Fusion and Spectra skills. Our environment is Windows 2000
servers, Oracle 8i, Cold Fusion Enterprise 5.0, and Spectra 1.51

Required skills:
* CF Enterprise through 5.0
* Spectra through 1.51
* Very solid HTML skills; design skills a plus.
* Good JavaScript/DHTML skills
* CF/Flash integration a plus

The successful candidate will have very strong development and
troubleshooting skills, and will be a self-starter who is able to work
individually or in small groups. Helping to determine project timelines
and
requirements will be part of the job, as will training/mentoring less
experienced group members. We have excellent benefits and pay
competitively. No relocations/ contractors/ telecommuters. Things can
get
crazy from time to time, so if you're looking for a job that will allow
you
to stare out the window for most of the day, this isn't it.

Please forward resume/cover letter/salary requirements in HTML, .pdf,
rtf,
txt, or .doc format to [EMAIL PROTECTED] 3 personal references
would
be helpful.

Thanks!

Pete
