A note to all your recruiters out there. This man will always try to have the last word in an argument even though he is blatantly wrong.
He will be hell to work with. Terry, The major issue here is that CF has really only come of age since CF MX enabling it to take on board *some* established design methodologies and practices that have been around for DECADES. So please don't go on about 'modern web based applications' and 'modern day networking' as if that is somehow something nobody has been working. Networks, database servers, application servers have been around for decades. The internet (ARPANET http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARPANET ) was turned on at the end of 1969. I would also point out that somebody with 20 years experience in IT could be 38 years old. I would suggest you go away and read "/*The Mythical Man-Month: Essays on Software Engineering" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mythical_Man-Month. */ First published 1975. That would be 32 years ago and STILL absolutely f'n relevant today. When you've finished there try getting hold of Code Complete http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_Complete, admittedly published in 1993, 14 years ago. Admittedly not within your 10 year "everything relevant" time line but exceptionally relevant if you code. He did do a 2004 update just to make you feel comfortable with your "only relevant if in the last 10 years". Once you have finished with those, you could get side tracked by other Steve McConnel books http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_McConnell. I personally recommend Rapid Development. 11 years old, but still very good if you 'manage' your projects. At some point you might start hankering after something more recent because obviously anything over 10 years old is not relevant, so take a dive into the Head First Design Patterns. A stunning book and published not toooo long ago, so shouldn't make you feel like you are wasting your time and effort on 'old' technology. Ironically, something CF was unable to take on board until CF MX came along. Just remember that the internet is almost 40 years old. Regards, Adam PS: Apologies to the group for posting this, but the arrogance Terry is displaying with his fake apology has annoyed me slightly.
