Camden/All-
Pleased to make your acquaintance *grin*. As you can tell, I work
for Allaire as an Enterprise Engineer, primarily working on the Linux
platform, and doing systems designs, software porting, etc.
Basically, as of late, I have been working on directions and such on
how to get CF running on multiple Linux distros (not technically supported
however). And basically, I am what one would call a Linux.. Purist. I have
been a Linux sysadmin and programmer for quite some time before coming to
Allaire. And so, I am personally dedicated to making CF on Linux the
absolute best product it can be, hands down.
I mean... with cf on Linux, one can call ANYTHING, whether it be
shell scripts, perl scripts, in-built Linux functions ( CRYPT() ) etc.
Recently, I have been trying in my spare time to get PHP and CF to co-exist
and WORK with each other, so that individuals and developers have the
greatest amount of power and deployment/design opportunities available.
So, feel free to pass questions onto the lists.... I mean, I admit,
I don't know everything, but I WILL try to track down a decent answer for an
honest question. "Coldfusion on Linux Sucks" comments notwithstanding
*grin*.
Meanstwhile, come see at, if you are in the area, and the Red hat Partner
booth at LinuxWorld expo this week in San Jose, and next week, at the Intel
Developer Forum, where I will be presenting the Allaire multi-platform
solution. (I hate marketing presentations, so it will be more of a
developer/admin based presentation).
Ah well, I fly out in about 3 hours, I'll keep watching the lists.

Thanks Jesse, Good to hear from you.
I lead a small dev team near Austin Texas. One of the companies we develop
for uses ColdFusion 4.5 on a RH6 box , and use MS SQL 7 as their primary DB
(thus my subscription to this list). I've been developing with CF
commercially for the past year or so, and I've been programming and using
Linux for the past three years. Right now, I am very interested in
developing CFX tags in C++.
If you get some time, I'd like to hear about you and anyone else on the list
:-)
Thanks again,
Camden
