Oh yeah, as another note: debian doesn't like to play well with others. Ever wonder why most paps will run on suse, redhat, mandrake, caldera and cobalt linux with minor, if any modifications?
They may not adhere to the LSB (linux standards base) fully yet, but at least they try to have compatibility. Debians off in the ozone. But hey, I run FreeBSD. =] -----Original Message----- From: Jesse Noller [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, October 03, 2001 11:03 AM To: CF-Linux Subject: RE: Still trying to get this.. /takes of macromedia hat I suffer from severe philosophical differences with debian. Don't get me wrong, it's a wonderful sever distro, if your willing to put up with the hardcore people on the community (I'm on the debian-user and debian-devel mailing lists.) I just don't like the idea of the software and computer I'm running becoming both a political and ideological argument. Computers are tools, true, I live and breathe them, buit there is no reason to get as rabid as some, nay, alot of the debian community people I have met. Not to mention, my first distribution was slackware ;) /put hat back on We like all distros, whatchoo talkin about? =] ======================== Jesse Noller Linux Fiend Macromedia Server Development [EMAIL PROTECTED] "Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know." -Ernest Hemingway "Ian: God help us; we're in the hands of engineers." -Jurassic Park -----Original Message----- From: Andy Ciordia [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, October 03, 2001 10:58 AM To: CF-Linux Subject: RE: Still trying to get this.. I grabbed them from the 6.2 release like doc suggested. I'm picking up a copy of suse to start seeing how that has gone, can't stand straight up RH. I'd love to know your reasoning behind thinking debian is yuckky, you can side note it if you wish, don't want to start a debate. -a On Wed, 3 Oct 2001, Jesse Noller wrote: > Which version of the libstdc libs did you grab? > > The ones from 6.2/7.0/7.1, etc? > > I'm going to try tracking down a box to throw debian on (yuck.) so I can > possibly see what going on. > > Package: libstdc++ > Status: install ok installed > Priority: extra > Section: alien > Installed-Size: 3484 > Maintainer: Operator <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Version: 2.9.0-31 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Your ad could be here.
