That scripts would time out, so I copied the cf.registry to another file,
removed
all of the useless entries, shutdown the coldfusion server, moved the new
registry
overtop of the old, and started coldfusion back up again.  Things seem to be
running
quite nicely, taking up very little memory and only the proper amount of cpu
time :)

It's also now using a MySQL table for the registry, so hopefully that'll
perform much better.
