Frank-
Which version of Red Hat are you running? I've tested a couple
hundred installs on Redhat 6.2 and above, and I have never had a problem.
(Compat-libstdc++ is a nessecary evil).
As for the time at which Libstdc++ is installed, it should be installed by
default on redhat, with redhat 7.x, you need the compat libs, which are not
installed by default in some cases.
There is no way around the library issues, but as for the install
issues, could you please be more specific.
As for Debian, we don't even support it. We only support Redhat,
Suse 7.1, and Cobalt linux. Debian is strictly a "hack if you wish" type of
item.

Subject: Re: Problem: Debian/Apache/Apxs
Tom,
This is an issue for everyone trying to upgrade to CF 5, not just folks
installing on Debian. Basically, the CF 5 installation script wants
libraries, and some other programs, that don't exist on Red Hat
installations before a certain point. It also doesn't recognize earlier
versions of Apache even when Apache is running and has CF 4.5 hooked
into it. Thank heavens I found this out on my dev server before trying
it out on the real one.
Now what am I supposed to do? Upgrade RedHat and Apache on the
production server on the fly, then try a CF 5 install and hope no one
notices and everything works? This is a crazy process for Macromedia to
force on its customers. Or am I missing something?
