Sorry for the extremely OT post, but I'm stuck and have received no word back from Mandrake support and of course there's no number you can call for technical issues. In hopes of using CF5 for Linux, I began my voyage with Linux Mandrake 7.2 .... this is what happened:
I installed Linux Mandrake 7.2 on a Win2K machine using Lnx4Win and to my surprise, when I reboot after installation, I get the boot message and then STAGE1 and that's it ... locks up, quits, stops booting altogether. Now I can't get in to uninstall LILO and Linux and my system is useless. Why in the world does this happen? I've reinstalled Linux 6 times now trying to get it to work and it just doesn't work using Lnx4Win. My Windows recovery disk and boot disks won't work and I can't get any of my data back. Can anyone help? Offer suggestions other than reformatting?
