I downloaded jedit and I found it to be a nice editor but the syntax
highlighting is way off for everything but java (way off in this case=
M$ editors for the same language) just as an example the CF highlighting
only marks CF comments in Red and CF tags in bold black, this may seem a
bit picky but you get so used to looking at code highlighted in a
certain way that when it is highlighted in another it almost looks
wrong.
I actually tried to edit the coldfusion.xml file to my own personal
preferences, but I could not figure out how to change colors and the
documentation provided on creating modes was thin at best. Despite the
above I think it is the best GUI editor for Linux by far, I have not
tried the new version as yet, I am still running 3.2.2.

hmm, is this an old thread? I seem to recall seeing Toby's question
before... I still stand by jEdit for development. I use it for all my
CF/HTML needs. It can be extended by a number of plugins available.
jEdit is currently at 4.0 beta 4... seems to be very stable.

I highly recommend it!!
