Hi,

mySQL has problems using 'localhost' in connection parameters on some
platforms/db drivers for a variety of reasons (dns, streams vs sockets, etc).

Have you tried to use the IP of the box or '127.0.0.1' for the loopback
instead of 'localhost' in your connection parameters?
