Easy way to check you java...
On the terminal console...

slocate bin/java
    >> The result is something like this...
/usr/java/j2re1.4.1_01/bin/java
/usr/java/j2re1.4.1_01/bin/java_vm
/opt/coldfusionmx/jre/bin/java
/opt/coldfusionmx/runtime/bin/java2wsdl
    >> basically that folder is the version if you installed a SUN or
something JVM. But to make sure.
/usr/java/j2re1.4.1_01/bin/java -version
    >>Returns somethign to the sorts of
java version "1.4.1_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.1_01-b01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.1_01-b01, mixed mode)

 >> BTW slocate section, second set CFMX directory is the cfinstaller's
version of java mostlikely 1.3.1
As long as the enviroment variables have been set CF should use the lastest
unless i am mistaken.
I am a linux nerd in the making havent figured everything out yet but
getting there!
