Hi Tony,

You might want to check out ActivMail http://www.cfdev.com/activmail/ it is
a Java CFX tag that makes direct connections to the SMTP server using
sockets. It does cost money, but its usually cheaper than writing your own
scripts.

As have I, and have even said it myself many times in response to requests
of "how we can send out 50k emails?" ;) But I'm looking at 2-10k the most
at a time. But more importantly, I would expect the mail to take a long
time to send sure, but not crash the box repeatedly!

Well, actually, since I run my own boxes (and almost always use sendmail)
I wouldn't mind doing the former. Sendmail is already running on the same
server, so it should be fairly straightforward.

Does anyone have existing code/formatting to work with sendmail?

This might be interesting. I already had my share of Java/JVM woes getting
the PayFlowPro tag working, so why the hell not? (But I'll try the
sendmail route first)
