We have just noticed something very odd happening with one of our CF servers
and wondered if anyone else had the same problem.
Since performing a scheduled restart, the box failes to upload files or write
to a 'parsed' directory. It doesn't generate an error but simply generates
files of zero length. For example, a site written in Fusebox 4 won't work
because none of the parsed files can be generated - you simply get a white page
in the browser. Our Content Management software, which includes a file upload
facility, fails to upload any graphic - it looks like it has performed the task
but the file size is zero.
What on earth is going on?! CF appears to be serving pages with no problems
but has lost the ability to write to anything - or at least it starts to write
the file but then can't add to it...
I thought it might be some form of permissions problem but nothing has changed
- CF runs as the 'nobody' user and the permissions for group read/write are set
correctly. After all, nothing that we have done has changed - except restart
the machine.
We are running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 with Apache 1.3.27. There
hasn't been any Red Hat Errata applied for a while and so I don't think it can
be this - does anyone have any suggestions?
TIA,
Matthew.
