Just an odd thought -- are you accessing the site w/ the same *exact* URL as specified in httpd.conf? E.g. if your conf says: "http://www.google.com" (no trailing whack), are you entering the same thing, or "http://www.google.com/" (trailing whack) ... Or vice versa.
