Dear All,

A slightly off-topic post but interested to see if anyone has any
thoughts on this idea...

Apple has recently introduced an Intel Core Duo (1.66Ghz) Mac mini which
can take up to 2Gb of RAM.

I was keen to try and work out where a Core Duo stood in relation to the
dual-processor Xeon machines we use. A quick Google search revealed a
site which rated various chip combinations against a Pentium 4
equivalent. Basically, it would seem that a Core Duo at 1.66Mhz would
equate to being about the same as a dual Xeon 3.06Ghz?

Bearing in mind the cost of a Mac mini ($799 or £510 ex VAT in the UK)
this seems fantastic performance for the price, esp. now Mac OS X is
officially supported by Adobe.

Is anyone running CF on one of these boxes or am I barking up the wrong
tree performance-wise until Adobe release a version of CF optimised for
Intel?

(or until you can install Red Hat onto the Mac mini!)

cheers,

Matt
