We used to be hardcore Linux/CF and have been deploying more Windows 2003
boxes lately with CF.

Still prefer Linux but Win 2003 has been problem free for us as of late.

Well, server wise I didn't either but I kept loosing debug information.
So I tried to upgrade to FC 5 and/or ColdfusionMX 7. No go with either
way or combination.

We've used FC4 for the past year or so and haven't had a single problem
with
MX 6.1

The only time we've had to reboot the machine was when Keriomailserver
hung
and wouldn't restart.

Well I can tell you that I wouldn't use Fedora Core. I have had nothing
but problems since FC 3. I've asked the owner if we could change the
platform to another Linux version but he is thinking about a completely
different language because of the compatibility problems; ie JSP or PHP.

I would go with Redhat AS 3.x or Susu. As at least it would be
supported.

Dear All,

A slightly off-topic post but interested to see if anyone has any
thoughts on this idea...

Apple has recently introduced an Intel Core Duo (1.66Ghz) Mac mini which
can take up to 2Gb of RAM.

I was keen to try and work out where a Core Duo stood in relation to the
dual-processor Xeon machines we use. A quick Google search revealed a
site which rated various chip combinations against a Pentium 4
equivalent. Basically, it would seem that a Core Duo at 1.66Mhz would
equate to being about the same as a dual Xeon 3.06Ghz?

http://www.systemshootouts.org/processors.html

Bearing in mind the cost of a Mac mini ($799 or £510 ex VAT in the UK)
this seems fantastic performance for the price, esp. now Mac OS X is
officially supported by Adobe.

http://www.macromedia.com/software/coldfusion/productinfo/systemreqs/

Is anyone running CF on one of these boxes or am I barking up the wrong
tree performance-wise until Adobe release a version of CF optimised for
Intel?

(or until you can install Red Hat onto the Mac mini!)

cheers,

Matt
