Hi Roy,

Many thanks for this. The current version of the editor software that I use to
maintain the standard name table does check for stray white space, so hopefully
there won't be any more instances of this in the future, but I agree that it's
a good idea to check that they are being submitted correctly to the NERC vocab
server.

I have also replied to Gwyn's email on the mailing list, but I think the list
may actually be down at the moment (certainly I can't access the archives
online). I'll report the problem to the list owner.

Cheers,
Alison

Thanks Gwyn,

That is what is known as an error in need of correction and should be dealt
with by aliasing in the next release.

I've also copied in a couple of colleagues in BODC so we can take steps to
prevent embedded blanks in Standard Names. We work in collaboration with CF and
run a series of checks on Standard Name updates before publication. A check for
spaces can easily be added.

Cheers, Roy.

Please note that I partially retired on 01/11/2015. I am now only working 7.5

the office. All vocabulary queries should be sent to

Right. But "rate_of_ hydroxyl_radical_destruction_due_to_reaction_with_nmvoc"
is an entry, not an alias.

Aliasing is the mechanism used by CF to deprecate Standard Names and was
