I don't particularly like the idea of insisting on "exact string match", because it is contrary to how the rest of CF works. For example, if output from one instrument has a data variable with units of `'watt'` and the output from a model has a comparable data variable, in the same netCDF file, with units of `'meter^2-kilogram-second^-3'`, then that is fine, even though it may lack clarity for the user.
I think that it would useful to _recommend_ that exact string matches are used, for clarity, but not to insist on it. -- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to this thread.
