So you are not actually having the datasource added to coldfusion through the admin? This is the problem.
You likely have to contact your host to set up a datasource for you. In the control panel, there is a "mySQL Server" tab. I created the database there. A second tab on the control panel is labeled "ODBC." In there I created a DSN following the instructions. In DreamWeaver, the database is shown and the tables are accessible. But when I upload the files to the server (on IX) -- boom!
