As far as I know this is true for the Java java.util.regex (introduced by
Sun with JRE 1.4) but CF MX use Apache's ORO library under the hood. I guess
ORO doesn't support that syntax for the multiline switcher, but, again, I
may be wrong

You may try using this UDF, it does RegExp matching using java.util.regex. I
wrote it because I wanted to use a few nifty features that were missing from
CF MX:
