I'm not a network admin or a DBA, but I am handling the CF setup and
volunteered to ask this question out here, so please ignore anything that
doesn't make sense! We currently have our web server half in and half out
of the DMZ, and as we bring up our new servers we plan to move them strictly
in the DMZ. The problem is that our DBA needs holes punched through the
firewall to communicate over SQL*Net to multiple Oracle databases. What is
the "standard" for doing this? Choosing high port numbers that only have
the SQL*Net listener on them? Is anyone using the newer firewalls that are
SQL*Net aware? How secure is this setup and is there a better way?
Thanks much!
Dan
