Hi all,
The "Looking at CF Mem Usage" article is very good, I learnt quite a lot
from it. Unfortunately none of it made any difference to fixing the problem
for us. The only reliable fix we've found is restarting the CF service,
which is no fix at all. Cutting the stuffing from the article you can
precis it as
1. Acquiring and releasing memory IN CF.4 is a drain on the server so we
2. Released CF 4.5 with SmartHeap, so now
3. We'll fill your memory up to ease the drain on resources
4. So now you should get more memory to
5. Allow apps that were working fine in 4.0 with less RAM to keep chugging
along.
6. Now you should revisit all your apps and shrink them
PS: I think we've busted CFFILE and CFHTTP, they'll sneak up and bite you.
If there is a way to turn SmartHeap off (assuming it is the underlying
cause), please tell me. There's some really really neat stuff in 4.5 that
we are using but this whole memory thing has left us very sour. LET MY
MEMORY GO!.. did I say that? <G>
