Was unaware that the latest version supports transactions. We're running 
3.22.32, will look into upgrading. Still no stored procedure support though.

I've also encountered stability problems with some CF apps and have always 
been able to resolve them - they've so far always been the result of bad 
programming. As with all development environments, CF has it's advantages 
(for me they are primarily extremely rapid development and a quick learning 
curve for non-programmers). These advantages are not a good fit for all 
applications - I wouldn't let an inexperienced programmer develop anything 
other than peripheral components of a site. Having said that, I would not 
conclude that these advantages make CF a bad development environment for 
anything other than small-scale applications, but I agree that out of the 
box, some of the built in functionality sucks (mailing and scheduling in 
particular come to mind).
