Also, to build upon what Mark said, I would create a developer workgroup
on your domain and only allow the developers within that workgroup to
have access to the directories/files that you give access to. By no
means, give them access to any part of the web server accept the wwwroot
directory. This is a little cleaner in that you don't have to give
access to individuals, you would give access to the workgroup. I would
also lock down the cf admin directory (cfusion/cfide/administrator) to
only allow the workgroup, or individuals within the workgroup to have
access. This can be done through IIS. That is, if you're running IIS.
And one last thing - I would create shares to frequently accessed
directories such as, custom tags, logs, mail, etc., under the cfusion
directory and lock those shares down to only be accessible to the
workgroup.

the Cold Fusion RDS  service runs under the Local System account by 
default. You should be able to run it under a different account in order
to
 
restrict the drives/directories/files you can access via RDS.

BTW, if you have an SSL cert for the server, set studio to use it for
the 
RDS connections.
