"Integrated" load balancing and failover are only available with the
Enterprise edition. You could certainly load balance the machines with your
LD, but you would not have the benefit of failover. Then there is OS
clustering.

Dual processors tend to have better performance (there are a lot of
contingencies though). Faster disk access is always a plus.
