Ghost makes an image of the HD, so think about this for a minute! If I use ghost or any other software to make an image of the HD, then if a file was open or being written too. The moment that it took the snapshot of the HD, would be the state of the machine.
Now if it took a snapshot of the HD while writing the registry, or cache or even a file. That part would be corrupted because the image would have moved onto the next sect/cluster of the HD and missed the rest of the information. It would be advised to close down everything when making an image of the HD:-) -----Original Message----- From: Todd [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, 26 June 2002 11:55 AM To: CF-Server Subject: RE: Creating Disk Images / Backup Strategies Ghost backs up everything... it makes a complete mirror of the system. Not sure about that "Open" files comment tho... I'm gathering you're asking if it can ghost something while a file is being written to (such as an access file)...? ______________________________________________________________________ Signup for the Fusion Authority news alert and keep up with the latest news in ColdFusion and related topics. http://www.fusionauthority.com/signup.cfm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe, send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with 'unsubscribe' in the body or visit the list page at www.houseoffusion.com
