We have CF 5.0 installed on a development server that we use to let newbies play around on and learn CF. It has IIS 5.0 for the web server software. Now we want to install CFMX on this same server so we can play too and come up to speed with CFMX. I know that we can install CFMX side by side with CF 5.0 and that the install will detect that CF 5.0 is using IIS 5.0 and it will then automatically install and configure the stand-alone web server for use with CFMX.
Is the stand-alone web server that comes with CFMX primarily for single-user development or will it also work in a development environment where several people could be developing on the server at the same time? What about mixing CF 5.0 and CFMX development environments on the same server? We plan to migrate our production CF 5.0 site to CFMX on this server to see how it runs and what changes we have to make. At some point we will want to push the CFMX version to see how it functions under load. I'm assuming that at that point we should have CFMX running on IIS 5.0 and not the stand-alone server. When we get to this point will we have to uninstall CF 5.0 in order to switch CFMX from the stand-alone server over to IIS 5.0? Will CF 5.0 run with the stand-alone web server? Your thoughts on how we should set up CF 5.0/MX on this development server? Thanks!
