It wasn't my impression that the educational version was limited to a number of IPs, and I couldn't find anything on the subject on the web (everything I found said that the educational was similar to the standard version). Just out of curiosity, what HTTP server are you using?
To save some time, here's another possibility, and you have probably already checked this. If you're running a non-server Windows version, the IIS will limit itself to 10 IP sockets. That may manifest itself as something that looks like 5 IP connections... Just an alternate theory.
