If you're on Windows: it sounds like you have some registry work to do. If
you've never removed a stubborn application via the registry, I suggest you
find someone to help you with it. If you want to try and you either have the
ability to set a system restore and or can save and import a registry, I
would go through the registry and find all references to cold fusion and
delete them. You'll have to search Edit--> find -> check all . Keep hitting
F3 until no more references to coldfusion can be found. Restart your
computer and pray. If all went well you should be fine.

Also do as the other person suggested and see if there is any services
related to ColdFusion running.

If you are on a O/S like Linux, OS/X or Any of the Windows flavors that
don't have system restore , you can see if there is an app available that
will allow you to roll-back your system prior to digging Coldfusion out.

Subject: I can't uninstall coldfusion 7

I can't install my coldfusion 7 because my computer thinks that there is
currently a version installed. For some reason, I accidentally had one
version installed on my external hard drive. I removed those files and all
of the suggested files by macro media have be eliminated from my hard drive
and I went ahead and installed my flex 2, thinking that it might have
something to do with it. I've been stuck for about 2 hours and don't know
what to do.

It will let me install the "trial version" or the "developer edition"
however they never show up in my add/remove program tool on control panel,
nor do they allow me to find them in my start menu. I have deleted all of
the files from the wwwroot folder, rebooted my computer, and deleted the
coldfusion folder off of C. I have also deleted all of my temp files.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!
