Fortunately, you don't have to reinstall the operating system. All the
upgrade process will do, when run from Win2K, is restore files from the CD.
All your application settings, etc. will remain intact.

You're correct that CF is overwriting MDAC 2.5 components with MDAC 2.1.x
components. Allaire is aware of this and it should be fixed in CF 4.5.1.
