But you can.  If you click on the query button on the CFML basic toolbar, 
the query object builder pops up with boxes to enter the name of the query, 
and a text box to type in SQL.  If you click the little build button to the 
right of this box, a window opens that lets you build the query.  Select 
the appropriate data source, click new query and a window opens that lets 
you select tables, drag fields down to the query grid, assign sort order, 
add criteria, etc, etc..it takes substantially less time here to build a 
query, you will always have the correct field names, and when you're done 
you can save the query to recall for further use, or paste it back into the 
document.  It's a wonderful tool.

If all you are looking at is the table field list on the left that you get 
from opening up the RDS tree, you're missing a substantial amount of 
functionality.
