Try this Nelson:
<cftransaction>
<cfquery ....>
insert into myTable1 ( ..... )
values ( ..... )
</cfquery>
<cfquery ....>
SELECT MAX(SomeID) AS NewSomeID
FROM myTable2
</cfquery>
</cftransaction>
Using cftransaction insures that you get the newest SomeID inserted.
