The following does *not* include Mac osX, since that OS is not really a Mac
OS, it's BSD.

Fact: Macs do have fewer security issues.
Fact: This is not necessarily due to superior design.

Most security breaches are not caused by the OS itself, but by network
software running on those machines. Macs have fewer security holes because
they have fewer and less sophisticated network apps that can run on them.

The reason Macs are not used for serious servers is because their network
performance sucks rocks. File throughput is abysmal via AppleTalk, and is
even worse over TCP/IP. The best Mac couldn't even dream of significantly
utilizing a 100mb network connection.

Even Apple does not use Macs for their own sites, they use Solaris on Sun
Sparc.

I'm certainly not a M$ fan, but that's not even close to a fair statement.
All software has security holes, it just so happens Mac servers are
relatively unpopular compared to NT and therefore are not an attractive
target for hackers.  It's far more difficult to find security holes if only
a handful of people are looking for them... IMO...
