The verity Search97 Information Server is still a good product.
(I think they have version 3.7 out)
Although very poorely supported by it's own frontend.
The search capabilities and the vast amount of parameters you can change
makes it
a good product for me.

The Verity-integration with ColdFusion doesn't cost you anything other than
the Server-price itself.
The core product Information Server is very expensive if you buy it off the
shelf.

Subject: Verity, SQL Server FullText Search -- Clustering?

Hey Everyone,

We are creating a very search intensive website (on content all indexed from
a database) and will have to have more than one search server. Overall, with
only having dabbled in Verity, but having read every message from the forums
that had the word 'Verity' in it, it seems to be severly crippled, and a
three year old product at that. Verity's website doesn't say a lot about CF,
and it doesn't seem to have a successor product to Search97 that CF uses.

Verity issues:
Limited Docs
Old
Questions on # of docs ceiling in database
Performance degradation when collection is updated on the fly
Default search is 'or' instead of 'and'
Clustering?

We are experimenting with SQL server fulltext search, and everyone who has
posted to usenet seems to think that it is really good, very fast, but a
little young (maybe more mature than Search97). It should cluster using
either a router or the MSCS software clustering, which I haven't tested yet.

Does anyone have any experience clustering verity?

Thanks,
Matt
