I apologize - maybe instance was the wrong word to use. The SQL Server 2K Enterprise install is only running one instance - on the default port of 1433. I am able to create an ODBC datasource on the CFMX box and connect to the SQL Server Enterprise box through the Control Panel applet. I also tried the ODBC socket setup using the valid OBDC System DSN, and it failed, too. The SQL Server 2K box did not, however, have SP2. I will try that and let you know.
