so bruce, let me take you back a little bit, to 1994 when i was coding in notepad, using netscape .99 and using trumpet winsock to connect on my 2400 bps modem on my, oh wait 386, way back, when i was a 21 yr old kid looking to make it.
i certainly coded those things, and have since coded them until the point that... after my 1 millionth height="" and width="", it was just a real killer feature that i got used to. but, i guess i shouldnt have made that statement, i was just a little pissed. i want to use dwmx, but it was just a hassle i wasnt aware of. damn. sorry to offend you. tony -----Original Message----- From: Bruce Sorge [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, July 30, 2002 10:30 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: RE: dwmx and image dragging. > i mean how many real developers use WYSIWYG editors? Please define a "Real" developer. We have several "real" developers doing contract work where I am at who are some of the best developers in North Texas. These guys are by far "Real" developers, and I have seen them use the WYSIWYG editing features of MX. The reason that they do this is because they know how to use the tools at their disposal to maximize development. If a "Real" developer knows that creating a large table structure or doing some complex layering is by using a WYSIWYG feature of an application, then they do it. And since these guys do not come cheap, we appreciate the fact that they want to make the most of the applications they use to speed development, and in return we keep them on to do more work. I would never think these guys were any less developer than they are just because they are using a WYSIWYG editing tool. Bye the way, if I am reading the context of your term "Real" developer correctly, then you too must not be a "Real" developer as you seem to be unwilling to just type in the image tag and its associated properties. You want to drag it over to your page. I remember way back in '95 when I taught my self HTML there were no tools available that would allow me to drag an image into my page (maybe because that feature is not built into Notepad). I had to manually type in the tag and its properties. Maybe we are taking too much for granted and we need to get back to our development roots. Oh, and this is not a flame, just an observation. IMHO that is. -----Original Message----- From: Tony Weeg [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, July 30, 2002 8:08 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: RE: dwmx and image dragging. IMVHO: very bad planning on MM's part. i mean how many real developers use WYSIWYG editors? we never have before, why should we now? i cant understand how they would imagine developers would want to lose that feature :( poor choice, very poor choice. wait i here 2 cents hitting a bucket, thats probably already full. tony -----Original Message----- From: Clint Tredway [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, July 30, 2002 9:55 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: Re: dwmx and image dragging. You cannot drag an image in code view, you have to be in design view to drag images in. I hate this as well, but you get used to it.
