Although I found it to lag behind the mailing list - sometimes up to 15 or
20 minutes....

Using a News reader was nice, but responding to a "new" posting, only to
discover you've missed the 20 other quick responses was kind of annoying...
But, if you are only planning on reading the list, this shouldn't be a
problem.

My thoughts.
