I don't know of anyone that publishes this.

I would also have to question the accuracy of the info. (Timeliness, refresh period,
data accuracy)

Also, what taxonomy rules are you going to use to build this tree?

Who a person/group is funded through? Reports to? Does an object appear only once on a
tree?

I'd love to see the list if/when you build it, though.

I've added a couple of links below that at least enumerate some of this, and supply
website links that might provide more.

Good luck, and let us know what you find.

Does anyone know of a source for a nested federal government data list? I
would also be looking for states also. I am looking to be able to drill down
into the data to eventually get to the individual in that position.

example:

http://bp.fed.gov/
http://www.findlaw.com/10fedgov/

Government
-Federal
--Executive http://www.loc.gov/global/executive/fed.html
---Cabinet
----Secretary of Agriculture
----Secretary of Commerce
----Secretary of Defense
-----Donald Rumsfeld
--Legislative
--Judicial -
