My DSL IP doesn't allow static addressing.

Also, unless I connect PPPOE, I can't determine the Dynamic DNS address
that the IP assigns.

I need to connect DHCP, to run wireless for my laptop.

This makes it a real pain to demo stuff to clients, as I would have to
reconfigure, just so a client could access my computer.

I ran across a service (new to me) that can resolve a domain name to a
dynamic IP address. The service I am using is:

     http://www.dyndns.org/

They will allow you to define free domain names in the format:

    yourdomainname.dnsalias.com (and several others)

You can define as many of these domains as you want and they can each
point to a different computer on your LAN.

You use a client program that runs on the computer hosting the domain
to periodically hit the dyndns site and they will automatically update
th IP address as necessary.

I am thinking about moving an old www. domain, that I have parked, to
this service ($30 one-time charge).

Anyone had any experiences with this, good or bad?

Dick
