Thanks Jon - dedicated was my immediate reaction when they told me the news but when I told the business area they'd have to fund it because I wasn't funded for it, they suggested we look for some other options first. I did canvass MX with the developer on the chance it did something this (I didn't know specifically myself if it did) - on your advice it does so thanks for the tip Jon. I'll pass it on and be sure to acknowledge your help (and the other CF'ers who've helped too).
Having said all that it turns out that the host will support CFX tags on the new service we are going to in about 5 weeks, however, we have to sign an indemnity and its subject to their engineers OK'ing the tag. CFX_ZIP has been around for while as far as I know so I think it will be OK but I'd still like to have several options on the table for consideration. Thanks again Jon (and the others who have responded). ********** Kevin Parker Web Services Manager WorkCover Corporation [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.workcover.com p: 08 82332548 f: 08 82332000 m: 0418 806 166 ********** -----Original Message----- From: Jon Hall [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, 11 October 2002 11:09 AM To: CF-Talk Subject: Re: CFX not allowed Then I'll stick with Jared's recommendations. Shelling out using cfexecute (free), or use a zip com object (not free), like the one from Xceed, would be the easiest way. Although...the real issue is that you are on a shared host who is restricting you. Why not move to a dedicated server? They could still manage it if you don't want to devote the resources to managing it yourself. Dedicated boxes are pretty cheap these days if you look around. Besides, ecommerce on a shared system is inherently insecure. Security by obscurity and all that jazz... If you would have said MX though, MX essentially has built in zip support via java.util.zip -- jon mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Thursday, October 10, 2002, 8:45:22 PM, you wrote: PK> CF V5 PK> ********** PK> Kevin Parker PK> Web Services Manager PK> WorkCover Corporation PK> [EMAIL PROTECTED] PK> www.workcover.com PK> p: 08 82332548 PK> f: 08 82332000 PK> m: 0418 806 166 PK> ********** PK> -----Original Message----- PK> From: Jon Hall [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] PK> Sent: Friday, 11 October 2002 10:08 AM PK> To: CF-Talk PK> Subject: Re: CFX not allowed PK> Which version of CF? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/index.cfm?sidebar=lists&body=lists/cf_talk FAQ: http://www.thenetprofits.co.uk/coldfusion/faq Your ad could be here.
