It is a little early to say. Certainly Java has the lead now, but it has been around a lot longer than .NET. However, the same thing could have been said about Netscape not that long ago. I don't know who the smart money is on, but my money is on Java.
My prediction is that if the race gets close IBM will buy Sun.
