My problem was two-fold: 1) Program was changed. Previous partners should have been grandfathered with the requirements, which as I've pointed out, the partners@mm offered to do when I complained. 2) For the Associate program, its a hidden cost. It's $795 plus what is it, $150 for the exam now? And on top of that, fewer products and more restrictive licensing. The $795 used to get the office CF Studio, Homesite, Kawa, JRun Studio, JRun, and CF. I now get JRun and CF.
The value of the partnership program IMHO went down, but the cost went up. Of course, I will readily admit I enjoy the booze and food for the partners at DevCon :) And the other cool things that ocassionally came my way. You're probably just about old enough to remember when drinking ages changed from 18 to 21. Just because an arbitrary requirement *can* change, doesn't mean there won't be complaints :) Macromedia may well have plenty of justification -- raising the interest in getting a certification for instance; trying to create a market for said certification; making a few extra bucks. I'd much rather send code samples and examples of sites instead of take a multiple-choice test for admittance...
