There is a lot to learn - but everyone need to start somewhere right? :-) A lot of people just don't know where to start. Hopefully this mail will help them get started. In reality you can get on with a limited understanding, but you will probably enjoy learning more.
I suggest you forget about Java and CFMX, in the beginning, until you get your J2ee fundamentals right. Download a jsp/servlets container to get started. I recommend http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/. This will give you an understanding of the config file (web.xml etc) / the directory structure (WEB-INF etc.) / and jars (how java apps are packaged) etc. As for the books.... Lets break down the parts - you really only need one java syntax book & one j2ee book to get the basics.
