We (WTG, not the CF product team!) are doing extensive load testing of the new macromedia.com site at the moment and getting good results with a relatively small cluster - a few Solaris servers with a few CFMX for J2EE instances on each. Macromedia's site is fairly "high demand" (about 6m page views per day)...
