The thing to keep in mind is that Jeremy was not actively developing or even involved in ColdFusion day to day at Macromedia. He was in charge of other projects, and his involvement with ColdFusion was generally on a pretty high level. Jeremy has been made Founder Emeritus and his name will forever be associated with ColdFusion, so I think it is fair to say that he will continue to contribute on a high level. Meanwhile, everyone who actively develops ColdFusion and helps to manage that development process in both Newton and San Francisco continue their work.
Another thing to keep in mind is that ColdFusion was the primary reason for the merger between Macromedia and Allaire, and ColdFusion has become the core of Macromedia's application strategy. ColdFusion is no less of a focus now than it was the day the merger was first conceived. We have put a lot of time, money, and energy into this application strategy, and we are completely dedicated to it. I respect Jeremy's decision, and if he is happy with it, then it is the right decision. I think this excerpt from his weblog posts says it all: "But after eight-years of being deeply focused on the world of Internet application software platforms, I'm ready to move on." We wish him the best of luck and will follow his future projects with great enthusiasm. Christian On Thursday, February 6, 2003, at 11:18 AM, Bryan F.
