By far the easiest way is to cheat. If you have an MX box have it do the XML parsing etc, and get the data back to the CF5 box any way you want. We did this recently for something we needed done quick and wasn't performance sensitive.
Other than that, msxml on windows gets the job done for me in cf5. If you need some code samples let me know.
