Well thanks Todd, I'll have a go, 'cepting that was more or less what I was doing already.
I backed up. I uninstalled CFMX that was installed to coexist with CF5. I installed as a standalone server (it took about 20 minutes, including a 10 minute period when it seemed to be doing nothing at all) I couldn't login and verify because it doesn't (*&%#$% work!!!! And there I am stuck.
