All versions of CF let you use J2EE Session Variables. Not all versions let you set up J2EE clustering and session replication. In fact, if you want the full monty, so to speak, you need CFMX for J2EE (so that you can leverage all the J2EE session stuff). However, even with CFMX Pro you get stable J2EE sessions using the built-in version of JRun.
