Actually, Salt Lake City is not that much like the rest of Utah. It's much more diverse than people often think. Not just ethnically but also politically and religously. I've lived here for almost 9 years and I can tell you that the skiing is fantastic. Uncrowded runs are less than 30 minutes from Downtown. Since the 2002 Winter Olympics the restaurant scene has also improved dramatically. Hotel rates are generally not very expensive.
