It is a big download, but I've found that it's a much faster interface than
jEdit *because* it doesn't use Swing.  I heartily agree that it is
incredibly obtuse in some areas, though :)

Also, its bloody big download, since it doesn't use swing.
Something like jEdit seems like a better bang for you buck.
