Another advantage of imagecr is support.

I really can't speak of the support available with cfx_image, as I've not
used it...

I'll just echo what others have said about the quality of imagecr (they
speak the truth)...but also add that I've e-mailed the efflare folk at 2:00
am on Saturday (usually when I'm most productive), and received responses
back within 20 minutes.  Not saying this is the norm, or necessarily to be
expected...but it's happened on more than one occassion :)
