Another advantage of imagecr is support. I really can't speak of the support available with cfx_image, as I've not used it...
I'll just echo what others have said about the quality of imagecr (they speak the truth)...but also add that I've e-mailed the efflare folk at 2:00 am on Saturday (usually when I'm most productive), and received responses back within 20 minutes.
